Kyoto

Kyoto is a city located in the central part of Japan’s Honshu Island. It served as the imperial capital of Japan for over a thousand years, from 794 until 1868. Known for its classical Buddhist temples, as well as gardens, imperial palaces, Shinto shrines, and traditional wooden houses, Kyoto is renowned for its rich cultural heritage. The city is also famous for its festivals, such as the Gion Matsuri, and is considered a center for traditional Japanese practices, including tea ceremonies, kimono wearing, and various forms of art and craftsmanship. Kyoto has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its numerous historical sites and is a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists.
